What is the MeitY FREE Digital India Winter Internship?
The MeitY Digital India Winter Internship is a structured two-month internship program conducted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under MeitY. It provides students exposure to real-time projects in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and software development technologies like Java and .NET.
The internship runs from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, and is conducted either at NIC headquarters in New Delhi or in NIC state centres across India. The program culminates with a formal certificate issued by MeitY, validating the intern’s contribution and skills acquired.
Who Can Apply for the MeitY FREE Digital India Winter Internship?
This internship is designed for Indian students currently enrolled in recognized universities with a focus on courses in technology and computer science.
The eligibility criteria include:
(i) Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and pursuing B.E/ B.Tech, M.E/ M.Tech/ MCA, MSc (Electronics)/ MSc(CS)/ MSc(IT), DoeACC ‘B’ level shall be eligible.
(ii) Possessing minimum qualifications as above shall not guarantee internship in NIC. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with good academic background and having higher qualification, based on need shall be given preference.
Note: The students who are in the last year or who will pass out in summer 2026 will not be eligible for the Internship. The following students are eligible

Selection Process
(i) The Interns will be shortlisted and selected by the respective Groups/Divisions for their concerned domain.
(ii) For selection of interns, personal or Skype Interview, may be conducted, if deemed necessary. No TA / DA shall be paid to candidates for attending the personal interview.
(iii) Providing any false declaration of information which include degree/certificate/marks obtained is liable to rejection of Candidature/Application.

Stipend
(i) A token remuneration of Rs. 10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.
(ii) The remuneration shall be paid after the completion of internship on submission of Report duly accepted by NIC.
Certificate
Certificates will be issued by NIC to the Interns on the completion of internship and submission of Report duly countersigned and accepted by Training Division, NIC.
