be registered/admitted for a Ph.D. degree at a recognised university or institution in India at the time of application
be a full-time Ph.D. scholar
not be more than 35 years of age as of 1st October of the year of selection
belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender categories, women, and armed forces personnel are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5 years as per norms

Maintenance Allowance (including tuition): ₹18,000 per month
Contingent Expenses: ₹15,000 per annum (for study tours, books, and stationery)
Note:- The duration of the fellowship is 6 months, extendable up to 3 extra months.

Scholarship recipients cannot receive any other fellowship/scholarship simultaneously.
Selected candidates must submit undertakings confirming they are not benefiting from other scholarships.
The university must also certify that the candidate is not receiving another fellowship.
Violation of terms will result in termination and refund of the disbursed amount.
First disbursement will be made only after submission of all undertakings.
