The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks, also known as the Indian Patent Office, is responsible for overseeing the country’s patent, design, and trademark laws.
About Intellectual Property Rights
The National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy, which establishes the future direction for IPRs in India, was approved by the Union Cabinet on May 12, 2016. The Policy acknowledges that there are a lot of creative and innovative energies flowing in India and that these energies must be harnessed and directed toward a better and more promising future for all.
Eligibility Criteria of Intellectual Property Rights Internship
- A Candidate:-
- is a citizen of India
- is pursuing or has completed post-graduation / doctoral studies in science, or graduation / post-graduation / doctoral studies in engineering or technology, or graduation / post-graduation / doctoral studies in law, from any University established under the law for the time being in force in the territory of India
- Candidates pursuing graduation, post-graduation, or doctoral studies should have an internship requirement outlined in their course syllabus.
- The doctoral studies, post-doctoral work, and graduation must all be from government-recognized institutions.
- A recommendation from the institution’s head must be submitted with the internship application.
Duration of Internship
The internship’s duration must comply with the program’s requirements.
Internship’s location
Internship locations include the IP Offices in Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

Responsibility of Interns
At the conclusion of the internship program, interns will be required to submit a research paper and will be given assignments on new patent issues.
Benefits of this program
The head of the office where the intern interned must issue a certificate following the successful completion of the internship.

The office of CGPDTM has adopted a selection procedure for filling internships. Those chosen as interns will need to submit a certified copy of their diplomas.
