This course provides a detailed overview of the basics of one of the most powerful image editing software applications available: Adobe Lightroom Classic CC. We’ll start from scratch, where students will learn to navigate the Lightroom interface, create an image catalog, and import hundreds of images to sort and organize a photo collection. Here we cover important concepts such as catalog settings, handling import files, automatic renaming, metadata preferences and import settings. Once students are comfortable with the basics, we will explore a series of theoretical concepts and key terms that are essential to photography and digital imaging. Here we take a look at different file formats, color spaces, image resolutions, pixel densities, and more. From there we returned to complete the application setup, exploring file handling options, user interface settings, and setting up name tags and watermarks with text and graphics.
After learning the basics, students dive into Lightroom’s library modules. The library module is an integral part of the Lightroom application, used for several important functions. This includes filling, sorting, and organizing sets of image collections. This section starts with the basics where we examine the library interface. From there, students will learn to filter files, match keywords, and create keyword sets. We also show you how to use the different library views for image comparison and advanced sorting. Once students have mastered the basics, we’ll cover more advanced sorting techniques with star ratings, select and reject markers, color labels, and smart collections. Then we’ll work with library attribute filters, add folders, create smart visualizations, and explore the quick development panel for basic image enhancements.
