Description

Political science is the scientific study of politics. It is a social science concerned with systems of government and power and the analysis of political activity, political thought, political behavior and related constitutions and laws.

Indian politics operates within the framework of the country’s constitution. India is a parliamentary democratic republic in which the President of India is the head of state and the Prime Minister of India is the head of government. It is based on the structure of a federal state, although the word is not used in the constitution itself. India adheres to a dual political system, namely a federal character, consisting of a central government in the center and a federal state on the outskirts. The constitution defines the organizational powers and limits of the central and state governments; it is well recognized, fluid (the preamble to a rigid constitution and a mandate for further constitutional amendments) and considered supreme, that is, the law of the land must comply with it.

A bicameral legislature was planned, consisting of an upper house, the Rajya Sabha (Council of State), which represents the states of the Federation of India, and a lower house, the Lok Sabha (Assembly of the People), which represents the Indian people as a whole. . The constitution provides for an independent judiciary presided over by the Supreme Court. The court’s mandate is to protect the constitution, mediate disputes between central and state governments, resolve interstate disputes, repeal unconstitutional federal or state laws, and protect basic citizens’ rights by issuing subpoenas and enforcing violations.
