About the IISER Mohali
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali (IISER Mohali) is an autonomous public research university established in 2007 in Mohali, Punjab, India. It is one of the seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), established by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, to research in frontier areas of science and to provide science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. It was established after IISER Pune and IISER Kolkata and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute focuses on pure research as well as interdisciplinary research in various fields of science.
About the IISER Mohali Summer Research Program
Applications are invited for the IISER Mohali Summer Research Program 2024. Selected students at the level of BSc (Second Year/Third Year), MSc (First Year), or equivalent will be able to spend 6-8 weeks at IISER Mohali during the summer to work on specific summer projects with IISER Mohali faculty. The principal objective of the program is to provide exposure to research methodology and a research environment to motivate students and teachers. This exposure to different scientific fields is expected to inspire students to take up careers in science and help teachers in imparting science education.
Eligibility Criteria
Selected students at the level of BSc (Second Year/Third Year), MSc (First Year) or equivalent will be able to spend 6-8 weeks at IISER Mohali during the summer in order to work on specific summer projects with IISER Mohali faculty.

Important Dates
The summer program will run between May 15, 2024, and July 22, 2024. It will not be viable to accommodate requests for flexibility of pursuing the summer program outside this timeline. Therefore, if you wish to apply then please ensure that these dates do not conflict with your other commitments during the summer.
Program
The Program: The Summer Research Program 2024 will have two components:
(i) Research: which the student will carry out in consultation with his/her supervisor, and
(ii) Interdisciplinary Course Work: This will involve a series of lectures to be delivered by scientists working in various fields.
At the end of the summer program, students are required to submit a report about their research approved by their supervisor. All students who complete the summer program will receive a certificate from IISER Mohali.
Duration
The minimum period of summer research is six weeks and the maximum period is eight weeks.
Selection Process
Your selection for the summer program may be under the following categories.
Category A. Applicants have their own scholarships to support themselves financially toward pursuing summer programs.
Category B. Some applicants may be supported, on a competitive basis, through SSR-SERB grants of individual faculty members.
Category C. Rest of the applicants.
IISER Mohali will not provide any other stipend/fellowship/financial support for food, travel, etc. Students may avail services of IISER Mohali Hostel Mess on a payment basis.
Deadline Date
The last date for receiving online applications is Friday, March 22, 2024, 23:59 hours (IST)..
Accommodation
IISER Mohali will provide free-of-cost accommodation to the students in Category C. Other students will have to pay a nominal accommodation charge.
