About the Meity
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is responsible for the formulation, implementation and review of national policies in the field of Information Technology, Electronics and the Internet (all matters other than licensing of Internet Service Providers). Its mission is to promote e-governance for empowering citizens; promote the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT and ITeS industries; enhance India’s role in Internet Governance; adopt a multipronged approach that includes the development of human resources; promote R&D and innovation; enhancing efficiency through digital services; and ensuring a secure cyberspace.
Purpose of Meity Internship 2024
An internship is an opportunity for a student to secure first-hand and practical work experience under the guidance of a qualified and experienced Supervisor/Mentor. It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. For the larger benefit of the student community and intending to enrich the management/implementation of its various schemes/programmes, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has decided to notify these “Internship Guidelines”, to provide a framework for the engagement of Interns for a limited period.
Eligibility Criteria
Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and pursuing:
B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/ Computer Science (CS)/ IT/ Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics/ Electrical) M.Sc.(CS/IT/ Electronics/ Electrical) MCA/DOEACC ‘B’ level LL.B # B.E/B.Tech (Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics) and MBA (Finance) OR M.Sc.(Electronics) and MBA (Finance)
Students would be considered for internship only for ‘Cyber Laws’ and ‘Public policy on Internet’ areas.
Note:- The students who are in the last semester or who will pass out in summer 2024 will not be eligible for the internship. Only students who are in the previous year will be eligible.
Possessing the minimum qualifications above shall not guarantee an internship in this Ministry. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with a good academic background and having higher qualifications, based on need shall be given preference.

Selection
The Interns will be shortlisted and selected by the organisations/Groups/Divisions for their domain respective.
For selection of interns, personal or Skype Interviews, may be conducted, if deemed necessary. No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for attending the personal interview.
A list of selected candidates would be displayed on the web portal.
Stipend
A token stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.
The intern shall be paid after the completion of the internship on submission of a Report duly accepted by this Ministry
Certificate
Certificates will be issued by the Ministry to the Interns on the completion of the internship and submission of a Report duly countersigned and accepted by the Competent Authority.
Duration
The detailed time schedule of various activities is indicated at the Annexure. The minimum duration of the internship shall be two months, extendable up to three months, depending on the performance of the candidate, the requirement of the Ministry and the time the intern is willing to spend with the Ministry.
