About NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) is a statutory body constituted under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). Its responsibility is to protect and promote human rights, defined by the act as “Rights Relating To Life, liberty, equality and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the constitution or embodied in the international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.” The NHRC is headquartered in New Delhi and is composed of a chairperson and members appointed by the President of India. Info About NHRC Online Internship

This Internship Programme includes various educational components. The program covers 50 sessions on diverse human rights issues, including interactions with the NHRC’s Chairperson, Members, and other subject-matter experts, as well as high-ranking Indian government officials. It also involves group project work, book reviews, and the screening of films on human rights, anti-trafficking, health (including mental health), and education topics. Additionally, virtual field visits to institutions such as jails, police stations, and NGOs are organized to provide interns with insights into their operations and to address any queries they may have. The internship is conducted online, and the daily timings are from 10 am to 5:30 pm, inclusive of a lunch break.

Eligibility Criteria

The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) offers a Short-Term Internship (OSTI) with the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students studying in the 3rd year and onwards of an integrated 5-year PG course.
  • Students in the 3rd year or final year of a graduation course.
  • Students enrolled in any semester or year of a post-graduate degree or diploma course.
  • Research scholars in any field

Duration

This internship will commence from 05th Feb. to 16th Feb. 2024 for 12 days.
