The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has announced its Young Professionals Program (YPP) for the year 2023. The YPP is a two-year paid fellowship with a stipend of up to Rs. 50,000, providing young professionals with valuable experience and exposure in the field of audit and accountability.

Graduates, post-graduates, and research scholars from any discipline are eligible to apply for the program. The YPP offers several benefits, including professional development, networking opportunities, and exposure to government processes. Interested candidates can apply for the program by September 23, 2023.

About the Young Professionals Program (CAG)

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India has the mandate to carry out auditing and accounting functions as enshrined in Articles 148 through 151 of the Constitution of India and CAG’s DPC Act, 1971.

With the objective of bringing Young Professionals to work on important initiatives within the CAG Office and Indian Audit & Accounts Department and thereby also mentoring a young generation of future leaders, a ‘Young Professionals Program’ (YPP) is announced starting April 2019.

The YPP will be of 2 years duration. Applications will be invited through the premier institutions as and when required. Eligible candidates may apply within 30 days from the date of circulation of the requirements.

YPs will be mentored by the concerned Principal Director/Director General. Besides specific projects identified, functional wings can also deploy YPs on regular office work for which appropriate human resources are not available.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CAG Young Professionals Program, candidates must:

Graduates/ Post Graduates/ Research Scholars from any discipline, with exceptional analytical and leadership abilities
and stellar academic records from recognized and reputed institutions are eligible to apply.

Since the YPs will be driving high‐priority initiatives in a challenging environment, they should have shown high‐level leadership potential through extra‐curricular activities.

Preferred Skill

Candidates should be adept in Information Technology (IT) and information and communication technology (ICT) skills and
possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Age limit

Not more than 30 years of age. Preferably with professional experience

Period of Engagement

The YPP will be of two (02) year duration. The YPs will be initially selected for a period of one year, thereafter extendable up to
maximum of two years period, based on the performance and the requirement.

Stipend

A monthly stipend of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 (all inclusive) based on qualification and experience.

Declaration of Secrecy

YPs are required to furnish a declaration of secrecy

Selection Process for the CAG Young Professionals Program

The selection process for the CAG Young Professionals Program consists of the following steps:

Application Screening by the Screening Committee
Telephonic Interview
Selection Interview
The number of YPs to be engaged shall depend on the actual requirement from time to time.

Place of work

The place of work will be the CAG’s office, New Delhi or any of CAG’s field offices located across India.

Contract/ Agreement

YPs must sign a formal contract wherein conditions indicated in the guidelines in general and other conditions specific to the department will be laid down

Annual Performance Report (APR)

Annual Performance Assessment of the YPs will be undertaken through an Annual Performance Report (APR) by the Head of the
Functional Wing/ Field Office.

Terms and Conditions

Declaration of Secrecy: YPs are required to furnish a declaration of secrecy

Contract/Agreement: YPs must sign a formal contract wherein conditions indicated in the guidelines in general and other conditions specific to the department will be laid down.

Feedback: YPs are mandated to give their feedback to the Head of the Functional Wing in the CAG office/Head of Field Office on their experience of the program.

Annual Performance Report (APR): The annual Performance Assessment of the YPs will be undertaken through an Annual Performance Report (APR) by the Head of the Functional Wing/ Field Office.
