About the CBI
By 1918 Central Bank of India had established a branch in Hyderabad. A branch in nearby Secunderabad followed in 1925.
In 1923, it acquired the Tata Industrial Bank in the wake of the failure of the Alliance Bank of Simla. The Tata Bank, established in 1917, had opened a branch in Madras in 1920 that became the Central Bank of India, Madras.
Central Bank of India was instrumental in the creation of the first Indian exchange bank, the Central Exchange Bank of India, which opened in London in 1936. However, Barclays Bank acquired the Central Exchange Bank of India in 1938.
Also before World War II, the Central Bank of India established a branch in Rangoon. The branch’s operations concentrated on business between Burma and India, especially money transmission via telegraphic transfer. Profits are derived primarily from foreign exchange and margins. The bank also lent against land, produce, and other assets, mostly to Indian businesses
What is the Central Bank of India Apprenticeship?
The CBI Apprenticeship refers to the Central Bank of India Apprenticeship Program – a government-sponsored initiative designed to provide fresh graduates with a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the banking sector.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification: Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualifications recognized as such by the Central Government. Candidates should have completed & have a passing certificate for their graduation after 31.03.2020.
Age: Candidate should be born between 01.04.1996 to 31.03.2004 as on the cut-off date. However, relaxation in the upper age limit for categories like SC/ST/OBC/PWBD, etc. as per Govt. of India guidelines is applicable. (mentioned in Point 2.I ).

Selection Process
Selection for engagement of candidates who apply for apprenticeship in the Bank after paying the requisite online fee shall have to undergo the selection process, which would be as under:
Online Written Test (objective type): The online written examination will consist of five parts i.e.
Quantitative, General English, & Reasoning Aptitude and Computer Knowledge, Basic Retail Liability Products, Basic Retail Asset Products, Basic Investment Products, Basic Insurance Products
Selection will be based on merit as per vacancies.
Merit List is to be drawn depending upon the vacancy.
In case more than one candidate scores the same marks in the Merit List, such candidates will be ranked in the merit list according to their age in descending order.
Local Language Proof
The candidate should be proficient in local language
The candidate will be required to produce a certificate of VIII/X/XII or Graduate level having studied one of his/her subjects in as local language.
The bank reserves the right to conduct any other test or follow any other selection criteria at its own discretion.
Duration
The period of Engagement shall be of twelve months.
