About the NITI Aayog
The NITI Aayog (lit. ’Policy Commission’; abbreviation for National Institution for Transforming India) serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India, and the nodal agency tasked with catalyzing economic development, and fostering cooperative federalism and moving away from bargaining federalism through the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach.
Its initiatives include “15-year road map”, “7-year vision, strategy, and action plan”, AMRUT, Digital India, Atal Innovation Mission, Medical Education Reform, agriculture reforms (Model Land Leasing Law, Reforms of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee Act, Agricultural Marketing and Farmer Friendly Reforms Index for ranking states), Indices Measuring States’ Performance in Health, Education and Water Management, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Rationalization of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Skill Development, Task Forces on Agriculture and up of Poverty, and Transforming India Lecture Series.
It was established in 2015, by the NDA government, to replace the Planning Commission which followed a top-down model. The NITI Aayog council comprises all the state Chief Ministers, along with the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Puducherry, Lieutenant Governors of all UTs, and a vice-chairman nominated by the Prime Minister. In addition, temporary members are selected from leading universities and research institutions. These members include a chief executive officer, four ex-official members, and three part-time members.
About the NITI Aayog Internship 2024
NITI Aayog, the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India, is inviting applications from undergraduate, and postgraduate students and from research scholars who are enrolled in recognised universities or institutions in India and abroad for their internship schemes. Candidates are advised to apply before May 10 on the official website.
The applicants will get an opportunity to work closely with the verticals or cells or divisions of the NITI Aayog. The online application link is open from the first and 10th of every month. The internship will be on an unpaid basis.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must be enrolled in any accredited school, whether domestically or outside.
The undergraduate candidate must have passed the second-year or fourth-semester term-end exams and achieved a minimum grade of 85% in class 12.
Post-graduate students ought to have finished their first year or second-semester exams and not received a graduation grade of less than 70%.
It is expected that the research student would have graduated with at least 70% of the possible points.
Objective
To allow the intern to be familiar with Niti Aayog’s work.
The interns will get the chance to learn about how the Indian government operates and help shape policy.

There are several domains available and candidates can choose amongst them. Those are–Agriculture, Data Management and Analysis, Economics, Education/ Human Resources Development, Energy Sector, Foreign Trade or Commerce, Governance, Health, Nutrition, Women & Child Development, Industry, Infrastructure connectivity, Mass Communications and Social Media, Mining Sector, Natural Resources, Environment & Forests, Programme Monitoring and Evaluation, Project appraisal and management, Public Financed Budget, Public Private Partnership, Rural Development and SDGS, Science and Technology, Skill Development & Employment, Social justice and empowerment, Sports and Youth development, Tourism and culture, Urbanization or smart city, Waler Resources, LiFE- Lifestyle for Environment.
Duration
The internship will run for a minimum of six weeks but a maximum of six months.
Attendance
For the interns to receive the experience certificate, they must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 75%. Should the attendance rate fall below 75%, there will be no further extensions granted for the internship duration.
Experience Certificate
A certificate regarding the successful completion of the internship shall be issued by the Adviser.
