About the BITS

Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is a deemed university in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. It focuses primarily on higher education and research in engineering and sciences. BITS Pilani is one of the first six institutes in India to be granted Institute of Eminence status. According to 2012 data, IT has an acceptance rate of 1.47%, making it one of the most exclusive technical universities in the world.

The institute was established in its present form in 1964. During this period, the institute’s transformation from a regional engineering college to a national university was backed by G.D. Birla. The university has expanded its campuses from Pilani to Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai. After expansion to a campus in Dubai, it has become the first internationally deemed university, spearheading research in science and engineering with four established campuses and fifteen academic departments. Backed by the Aditya Birla Group, the institute secures extramural research funds from industries and various government agencies including DST, DBT, ICMR, DRDO, and DAE.

About the Summer Research Program

It Goa Summer Research Program (BGSRP), scheduled for the summer of 2024, provides a thriving platform for young academic talents, scholars, and researchers to engage with Scientists and Engineers on campus. The objective is to allow the interns to benefit from exposure to the Research Institute’s functionality and its established ability to translate theory into practice.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should be a citizen of India

The candidate should be pursuing UG / PG from a recognized University/Institution (India/Abroad)

The candidate should possess a minimum aggregate of 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10 at all levels

Roles & Responsibilities

Please note that ONLY a limited number of projects will be available for the internship. The participants will work on a specific project with a faculty member of the Institute.

The duration of the BGSRP will be  60 days

Important Dates

Open for receiving BGSRP applications – 4th week of January of the Academic Year(AY)

The last date of receiving the applications from the candidates – 3rd week of February of the AY

Uploading the list of selected candidates on the BGSRP website – 2nd Week of March of the AY

Reporting of the selected candidates to the BITS Goa campus – 1st week of June of the AY
