About the IIT Delhi
IIT Delhi, officially the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, is a public institute of technology located in Delhi, India. It is one of the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology created to be Centre of Excellence for India’s training, research and development in science, engineering and technology.
Established in 1961, it was formally inaugurated in August 1961 by Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. The first admissions were made in 1961. The current campus has an area of 320 acres (or 1.3 km2) and is bound by the Sri Aurobindo Marg on the east, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Complex on the west, the National Council of Educational Research and Training on the south, and the New Ring Road on the north. It is flanked by Qutb Minar and the Hauz Khas monuments.
The institute was later decreed in the Institutes of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act, 1963, and accorded the status of a full University with powers to decide its academic policy, conduct its examinations, and award its degrees
About the Research Fellowship Program
It has instituted a Summer Research Fellowship Programme to provide an opportunity for exceptionally good MTech/ME students of different Engineering Institutes, except IITs in India or abroad, to execute an innovative research and development project under the guidance of IIT Delhi faculty. The applicants must be within the Top ten ranks in their respective programme/branch. Students of IITs are not eligible to apply. The selected fellow will register at IIT Delhi as a visiting student; he/she will not be required to pay Institute registration fees.
Eligibility Criteria
Any M.Tech./M.E. student, who has completed at least 1st Semester of study within Top ten ranks and has secured at least 70% marks or CGPA of 7.00 (on a 10 point scale) at the end of 1st
Semester, in her/his respective programme will be eligible to apply for this fellowship.

Duration
The Fellowship work of 8 weeks duration during the Summer Vacation.
Support
Cost of travel (Train-Sleeper class) in the country, to and from IIT Delhi.
Free boarding and lodging in the Institute hostels; and
Fellowship of Rs. 500/- per week.
The fellow will register at as a visiting student; he/she will not be required to pay Institute registration fees. The fellow will have to bear the insurance charges. The selected fellow will be required to get himself/herself insured against any eventuality for the period stay at this Institute.
