The British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce was founded in Manchester in 1904 by the partnership of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. Later, the company expanded into the manufacture of aircraft engines. By producing the “best car in the world,” they immediately gained a reputation for outstanding engineering, building on Royce’s positive reputation that was already established with his cranes.
The two men first met in Manchester on May 4, 1904. When Rolls first saw Royce’s twin-cylinder 10hp, he knew he had discovered what he was seeking in a matter of minutes. After driving the vehicle, Rolls immediately agreed to sell as many vehicles as Royce could produce under the Rolls-Royce brand.

About Rolls-Royce Unnati Scholarship
Rolls-Royce India Pvt. Ltd. launched the Rolls-Royce Unnati Scholarship for Women Engineering Students as a way to aid deserving female students in finishing their engineering degrees. The scholarship is intended to assist female students enrolled in a first-, second-, or third-year undergraduate engineering program at an Indian institution recognized by the AICTE. The 35,000 INR grant is available to qualifying female students to help with their academic costs while enrolled in an engineering program. Through this scholarship, qualifying candidates can receive mentorship help from the best staff members at Rolls-Royce India in addition to financial aid.
Eligibility Criteria of Rolls-Royce Unnati Scholarship
- AICTE-recognized colleges are accepting applications from female students who are enrolled in the first, second, or third year of an engineering degree program (in specialties like aerospace, marine, electronics, computers, etc.).
- The applicants’ board test scores for classes 10 and 12 must have exceeded 60%.
- The annual household income cannot be higher than INR 4 lakh.
- Available to students from around India

Important Note
- For female scholars who previously won the “Rolls-Royce Unnati Scholarship for Women Engineering Students” in 2022 and are enrolled in their fourth year of an engineering degree program, applications are also now being accepted.
- Individuals from specific groups, such as those who are physically disabled, single parents, and orphans, will be given preference.
The chosen scholars will also participate in one-on-one and group mentoring sessions, webinars, and workshops led by business professionals from Rolls-Royce India. The following are the webinar topics:
- Importance of time management
- Dealing with stress
- Growth mindset & habits
- Staying motivated
- Positive psychology
- Skill enhancement (English communication, CV writing, interview)
- Personality development
Required Documents
- Passport size photograph
- Aadhaar card
- Current academic year admission proof [AY 2023-24 (college ID card/admission fees receipt, Bonafide certificate/ admission letter, etc.)]
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheet (self-attested copy)
- Previous academic year mark sheet (2022-23)
- Bank account details of the scholarship applicant (canceled cheque/passbook copy)
- Family income proof (any of the three proofs given below):
- Income Proof issued by Gram Panchayat/Ward Counsellor/Sarpanch
- Income Proof issued by SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar
- Salary slip
