About IIT Dharwad

One of the six Third Generation (3-G) IITs being developed by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), is the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IITdh). It began in August 2016 under the guidance of IIT Bombay, which is currently the second-oldest of the 23 IITs, having been founded in 1958. It is also the most sought-after IIT among eligible candidates who pass the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and go on to enrol in IIT undergraduate (UG) programs.

The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad or IIT DH) is a relatively young but rising star in the Indian engineering and technology landscape. Established in 2016, it’s one of the six “3rd Generation” IITs focused on fostering innovation and research.

Eligibility Criteria of the IIT Dharwad

• Applicant must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, humanities or other allied streams from an accredited [officially recognized] Indian university. 
• Applicant must have a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 65% till the just finished semester or earlier semester [if the results for the recent semester are not out at the time of application]. 
• Applicant must be available full-time [40 hours per week] during the timeframe of the internship

Duration

Up to 2 months there will be paid internship within the timeframe of 1st May to 15th July, 2024. Interns must leave the IIT Dharwad campus on or before 15 th of July. 

Stipend

A Stipend/Renumeration of ₹ 5,000/month [for a maximum 2 months] will be paid. There is no provision for travel support for any selected intern. 

A free of cost accommodation will be provided to all the selected interns in our hostels, subject to availability. Mess charges will be as per IIT Dharwad students rate. 

Selection Process

Selection Process will be conducted by the respective departments after the application deadline.

Certification

Internship certificate will be provided by IIT Dharwad ONLY to those interns whose performance is certified by the faculty mentor as “Excellent/Good/Satisfactory”. Interns with unsatisfactory performance [as decided by their faculty mentor] may not be allowed to continue and/or may not be provided an internship certificate. This internship certificate will be issued by the Academic office only on the recommendation by the faculty mentor.
