About the NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission of India (abbreviated as NHRC) is a statutory body constituted on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of 28 September 1993. It was given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). The NHRC is responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights, defined by the act as “Rights Relating To Life, liberty, equality and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the constitution or embodied in the international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.

About the NHRC Winter Internship

The National Human Rights Commission has expressly been mandated to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness vide Section 12 (1) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 With a view to spreading awareness among University students about the need for the protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting “Summer and Winter Internship Programmes since 1995 and 2000 respectively.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have completed 2 years and pursuing 2 OR 3 years of 3 years LL.B. Courses are eligible to apply.

2 Students who have completed 3 years OR VI Semester of 5 years Curse of BA/BBA.LLB, etc., and pursuing &5 years are eligible to apply

Students pursuing LL.M. Course.

Students pursuing MA in Human Rights, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce. Anthropology, International Relations, and any of the disciplines of Social Sciences would be considered with preference to students pursuing their final year. Only students of regular courses at UGC Revegnand University will be eligible

Students must have attained a minimum of 65% marks in Cless XII and all subsequent semester exams.

The applicant should not be more than 28 years of age as in 01.07.2023

Attested photos ps of mark sheets (by the Head of Department, where the student is presently studying) for each and every year/semester, are to be submitted for all the seeding years from Class X ends, along which the application will be liable to the wife. All the applications should be accompanied by a Letter of Recommendation(L.OR) bearing the name, signature, date & rubber stamp/ seal of the Principal/HOD/Dean of the Institute where the applicant is studying as per Annexure I.

Students who have attended the regular one-month Summer/Winter Internship Programmes organized by NHLC earlier will not be eligible to apply.

Taking the experience of the earlier Internship Programmes, this year maximum of 50 students will be admitted to the Winter Internship Programme 2023. 5 students from Delhi and NCR region may be kept on the Wait List. In the event that an intern drops out of the internship. those who have been put on the Waitlist may be called to join the internship no later than the second day of the Winter Internship Programme 2023

Brief Course Structure of WIP 2023 would be

Approximately 80-85 sessions on various human rights issues are proposed to be covered to sensitize the interns. The WIP 2023 will include following inputs

Classroom sessions

Interaction with the Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC

Group Research project work on Human Rights issues

Book Review Presentation.

Films on Human Rights and discussion of Child Labour issues, Trafficking, Rights of the Elderly, Health and Education issues etc, and discussions

Field Visits

Visit to Police Stations & Jail The interns would observe and interact with Police officers /Jail Authorities and get an insight into the Jail and Correctional Administration.

NGO’s The interns would visit NGOs where they can interact with Children and understand the problems.

Visit to Parliament House/ National Commission for Women/Minorities/Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes The interns would interact with officials of one of the above commissions and understand the nature of the work carried out there.

Rules and regulations governing Internship Program:

The interns have to get their registration done on the date of arrival.

They will have to attend the internship program regularly without a break.

Their daily attendance will be marked on a register/ attendance sheet.

Facilities for Interns:

The interns will be given a Kit/Bag containing NHRC reading material and the Intern

Identity Card (Temporary).

Library facilities will be provided.

Internet facilities will be provided

Tea and snacks twice a day along with lunch will be provided to the interns on all working days. For field visits, interns will be provided with packed meals

Traveling Allowance & Stipend

The selected interns from outside Delhi will be allowed Sleeper AC 3 Tier train fare to New Delhi and back to their place of study through the shortest route,

All selected interns who successfully complete the internship will be paid an amount of Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand only) as a stipend.

Interne will have to make their own arrangements for living accommodation and local transport from and to the Commission for the duration of the internship program.

Awards

Certificate of participation will be awarded to the candidates on the basis of the following parameters Attendance, Punctuality, Discipline, Participation in sessions is mandatore Project Presentation & Project Reports and Book Review have to be submitted timely.

An amount of Rs.15,000/- Rs. 10,000/-, and Rs. 5000 will be given as prize money for interns who are placed Ist, lind, and IIIrd respectively for the Group Resh Projes

The five interns with the highest marks for the look Review will be rew 3/5 fe of books priced not higher than Rs.1,000/- each.

The top three interns from the Declamation contest will be rewarded in the form of books priced not higher than Rs.1,000/- each.

Application for WIF 2023

The last date for the submission of the application is 8th December 2023 (11:59 pm)

Enclose attested scanned copies of mark-sheet from 10 Standard regards and marks of each year semester of presently nursing comes and recommendation by concerned HOD/Dean/ Principal which should be of a date subsequent to the date of uploading of this advertisement and for the presently pursued course.

In the absence of the following, the applications are liable to be rejected.
