The Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) was established by India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in 1962, on the urging of scientist Vikram Sarabhai, recognizing the need for space research. INCOSPAR grew and became ISRO in 1969, within DAE. In 1972, the government of India set up a Space Commission and DOS, bringing ISRO under it. The establishment of ISRO thus institutionalized space research activities in India. It since then has been managed by DOS, which governs various other institutions in India in the domain of astronomy and space technology.

Eligibility Criteria

Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

Master’s degree from a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level

Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India undertakings.

ISRO Selection Procedure

The essential qualification prescribed are the MINIMUM requirements and only possession of the same does not make the candidates eligible to be called for Written Test. If required, there will be an initial screening, based on the information furnished in the online application and only those screened-in candidates will be called for the Written Test.

What is an ISRO Written Test?

The Written Test will be a pen-paper-based examination. The written test consists of Part-A (objective type questions), and Part-B (descriptive type questions) for 100 marks.

Objective-type questions in Part-A (50 questions) carry one mark each.

। Descriptive type questions in Part-B consists of (i) two passages for translation carrying 20 marks each, and (ii) expansion of a given thought ( any two out of four thoughts) carrying 5 marks each.

the written test shall be for a duration of two hours ( 120 minutes).

Those who secure a minimum of 60% marks in the written test shall be declared as qualified in the Written Test.

Candidates shall be called in batches for skill tests in the ratio 1:5 with a minimum of 10 candidates, as per the evaluation result vs vacancies.

Skill Test

The skill test will be purely on a ‘go-no-go’ basis and marks obtained in the skill test will not be considered for final selection. The skill test will be evaluated on a 100-point scale with a minimum of 60% for qualification.

Two passages for precis writing, carrying 20 marks each, and

Two passages for translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, carrying 30 marks each.

The skill test shall be for a duration of two hours (120 minutes).

Those who secure a minimum of 60% marks in the skill test shall be declared as qualified.

The answer scripts of skill tests in respect of candidates who secure minimum 60% marks in WRITTEN TEST PAPER only shall be, evaluated.

The final selection shall be done amongst qualified candidates purely based on the scores obtained in the written test. From amongst candidates who qualify in the skill test with a minimum of 60% marks, empanelment shall be done in the order of marks obtained in the written test

General Guidelines For Filling-UP Of the Application Form

Follow instructions carefully while filling out an application form

Enter correct data in the relevant columns as required

It is mandatory for the candidate to upload a recent Color Passport Size Photograph and signature to submit the application form.

The Passport Size Photograph should be a JPEG file of less than 1 MB with the following guidelines to be followed:

No selfies allowed

The frontal view of the full face is visible.

The background should be plain/white.

Application with a blurred photograph or any image uploaded other than the recent colored passport-size photograph, such

applications shall be summarily rejected.

The candidate’s signature should have an aspect ratio of 7:2 (if the width is 70 pixels then the height should be 20 pixels) in a JPEG file of less than 1 MB.

It is also mandatory to upload documents pertaining to essential qualification as per guidelines in an online application
portal.

The online recruitment portal will be available from 0900 hours on 21.06.2023 to 1730 hours on 11.07.2023 for registration of applications.

Upon online registration, applicants will be provided with an online Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. Take a printout of the application summary.

SC/ST Certificate, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) Certificate, and The discharge Certificate/NOC for Ex-serviceman should be uploaded in the prescribed format as given below:

NOTE: Application can be submitted only once. Hence clicking the ‘SUBMIT’ button is a critical step, as no corrections will be possible subsequently. So you should ensure once again that the information is correct before submitting.

Payment Of Fees

Initially, all candidates have to uniformly pay Rs. 750/- as application fee (excluding applicable taxes/ charges). Candidates belonging to fee-exempted categories will be refunded the full fee. Other candidates will be refunded Rs. 500/- after retaining the application fee of Rs. 250/-

NOTE: Grant of refund will be considered only to such candidates who appear in the written test.(applicable to all the postcodes).

Applicant should furnish the Correct bank account details for refund of fee. SAC(ISRO) shall not be
held responsible, if the candidate does not receive the refund amount due to incorrect bank account details provided by the candidate.

After completely filling up all the details in the application form, Candidates will be redirected to the ‘Make Payment’ option.
Candidates may follow the instructions as re-directed by the payment portal. Once the payment is confirmed, the candidate will receive a confirmation message and mail.

Note: There is no extended date for the payment of fees. The last date of filling-up of the application form shall also be the last date for the payment of fees.
