The IIT-M Pravartak and Sony India have chosen approximately 30 students for the Finishing School Training Program.

The second batch of this training program will commence during the third week of January 2024. The IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation is a Section 8 Company that houses a Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators, and Control Systems. The government of India’s Department of Science and Technology funds it under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, and it is hosted by IIT Madras.

According to Balamurali Shankar, the General Manager of the Digital Skills Academy at IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, a similar program was conducted in 2023, focusing on similar technologies. Many students who participated in the program were successfully placed in top IT/ITES organizations and start-ups. The foundation plans to continue and expand the program in 2024, aiming to benefit deserving learners across the country. The objective of this initiative is to bridge the gap between the knowledge and skills of graduate students and the industry’s requirements, thereby helping them excel in their chosen career paths.

At the end of the program, Sony India will recruit a few outstanding performers through their standard selection process. For the remaining students, IITM Pravartak will assist them in securing placements in other companies by organizing interviews through the IITM Pravartak placement cell. Based on their performance, these companies may potentially offer them full-time positions.
