Info about Women of Mettle_2023 Program

• We introduced this initiative for T School Campuses as part of our deliberate efforts to improve gender diversity in technical fields. The seventh season of Tata Steel’s Women of Mettle, a groundbreaking scholarship program designed to attract talented young women engineers to the manufacturing industry, is currently underway. Young minds set out on an intellectual journey and overcome technical obstacles in Women Of Mettle. It provides access to top management at Tata Steel, who serve as mentors and teachers and give students the chance to face a variety of cross-functional issues.
• This program is one of many campus connect initiatives launched by Tata Steel with the goal of inspiring bright young minds in management and engineering institutes to sharpen their intellect in fields like R&D, operational excellence, business strategy, and management, among others. The goal is to encourage collaboration between academic institutions, businesses, and young Indian talent while offering them exciting job prospects.
• Following the submission and presentation of their analyses on actual technical problems by the Top 50 shortlisted teams, the Top 10 will be chosen to compete in the Grand Finale.

Eligibility Criteria

• Women graduating from the T-School in 2025 with a B. Tech. or BE in computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering, mining, mining machinery, mineral processing, chemical engineering, civil engineering, ceramic engineering, or environment can be eligible for this program.
• applicants must continue to place in the top 25% of their respective streams without any backlogs in order to be considered for the scholarship (in the event of team entries, both applicants must place in the top 25% of their respective streams without any backlogs).
  Only one or two people can make up the competing team.
  If two people are registering as a team, they must both be from the same institution.
• There can only be one team per student.

Perks & Benefits

• Throughout the event, scholars will be eligible for a scholarship worth $2,000,000. The amount is eligible for tax deduction at source under the Income Tax Act. If a team enters, the scholars will split the scholarship money equally among themselves after source tax deduction.
• The candidate will have the chance to work as a Technical Intern at Tata Steel, and as a result, a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) or Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) will be extended as necessary.
• Additionally, all paid technical conferences and a summer internship during the third year of study will be open to the candidates.
• Only if the Scholar is capable of performing during the given internship and is deemed suitable (this is applicable to scholars who have participated in teams as well) will PPO be extended to the Scholar following completion of her Engineering degree. Only if the scholar consistently performs in the top quarter of her class will the scholarship amount be increased for the final two years of her engineering degree.
• After successfully completing a summer internship, candidates from the CS/IT domain will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Systems, while candidates from all other domains will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Technical.
