Appliances is an American home appliance manufacturer based in Louisville, Kentucky. It has been majority-owned by Chinese multinational home appliances company Haier since 2016.
It is one of the largest appliance companies in the United States and manufactures appliances under several brands, including Profile, Café, Monogram, Haier, and Hotpoint (Americas only, European rights held by Whirlpool Corporation). The company also owns FirstBuild, a co-creation community and micro-factory on the University of Louisville’s campus in Louisville, Kentucky. Another FirstBuild location is in South Korea, and a FirstBuild location in India opened its doors in 2019.

The Intern will be provided in-depth training on the fundamentals of IP, using IP databases, and analyzing novelty and patentability of inventions. The Intern is expected to have a sharp learning curve, a good fundamental understanding of engineering concepts, and a good ability to understand drawings and go beyond his/her domain.
Eligibility Criteria
The Intern is preferred to be a final year student from a leading institution or one who has completed B. Tech or M. Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic/ Mechatronics / Computer Science engineering or a related discipline.
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A passion for technology
Good experience handling MS Office
Good visualization of problem statements, drawings, and figures.
Knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms and prior experience in R/Python will be an added advantage.
Essential Responsibilities
These are guided tasks in the initial phase of 2 to 3 months and the intern is expected to develop good proficiency in the area by half term of the internship.
Learn fundamentals of IP, database tools and options, Basics of Patents and non-patent literature, and apply during the analysis phase.
Learn the formation of a search strategy to analyze a concept and recommend if it has the potential to get a patent using a variety of free and subscribed databases.
Develop a good understanding of technology landscapes, assess competitive position, and provide relevant conclusions and recommendations.
