The NITI Aayog Internship Program is a six-week internship program offered by NITI Aayog, the Government of India’s premier think tank. The program is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from any recognized university/institution in India or abroad. The internship will be held from December 26, 2023, to January 27, 2024.

About the NITI Aayog
The NITI Aayog abbreviation for National Institution for Transforming India) serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India and the nodal agency tasked with catalyzing economic development, fostering cooperative federalism, and moving away from bargaining federalism through the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach.
Its initiatives include “15-year road map”, “7-year vision, strategy, and action plan”, AMRUT, Digital India, Atal Innovation Mission, Medical Education Reform, agriculture reforms (Model Land Leasing Law, Reforms of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee Act, Agricultural Marketing and Farmer Friendly Reforms Index for ranking states), Indices Measuring States’ Performance in Health, Education and Water Management, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Rationalization of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Skill Development, Task Forces on Agriculture and up of Poverty, and Transforming India Lecture Series.
It was established in 2015, by the NDA government, to replace the Planning Commission which followed a top-down model. The NITI Aayog council comprises all the state Chief Ministers, along with the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Puducherry, Lieutenant Governors of all UTs, and a vice-chairman nominated by the Prime Minister. In addition, temporary members are selected from leading universities and research institutions. These members include a chief executive officer, four ex-official members, and three part-time members.
Eligibility Criteria Of NITI Aayog Internship
Bonafide students of any recognized University/ Institution within India or abroad, fulfilling the following conditions are eligible to apply for the internship:
UG students, having completed/appeared in the term-end exams of the second year/4th, semester of the bachelor’s degree course and secured not less than 85% or equivalent marks in the 12th class.
Graduate students having completed/ appeared in the term-end exams of the first year/2nd semester of their post-graduate program or pursuing research/Ph.D. and secured not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation.
The students who have appeared in the final exam or just completed Graduation/PG and waiting for admission to higher studies may also be considered for internship provided that they have secured 70% or more cumulative marks in all the years/ semesters of their graduation/ post-graduation till the date of application.
The period between the month of declaration of the result of the final exam and the desired month of the internship should not exceed six months e.g. if the result is declared in June then he/she can apply for the internship beginning til 1 the month of December.

Purpose
To allow short-term exposure of “selected candidates ” with the different Verticals/ Divisions/Units of NITI Aayog, Government of India as Interns.
Objective
To allow young academic talent to be associated with the NITI Aayog’s work for mutual benefit.
The interns shall have an opportunity to learn about the Government functioning and Developmental Policy issues in the Government of India and contribute to the Policy formulation by generating policy inputs such as empirical analysis, briefing reports, policy papers, etc.
Duration
The internship period shall be at least six weeks but not exceeding six months. Interns not completing the requisite period will not be issued any certificate.

The online application link is open from 1-10 of every month.
