About the IIT Madras
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (popularly known as IITM or IIT Madras) is a public technical university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the eight public Institutes of Eminence of India. As one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), IIT Madras is also recognized as an Institute of National Importance.

About the Free courses
Beginning in January 2024, IIT Madras’ National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) will offer thirty new courses, including computational genomics, gaming, experimental robotics, planning and architectural studies, and computational genomics. This semester, more than 720 courses in engineering, science, and the humanities are available to college students and working professionals.
In the experimental robotics classes, students can complete five experiments and master the fundamentals of robotics. Anyone can enroll in this 12-week course, which starts with the fundamentals.
One of NPTEL’s coordinators, Professor Vignesh Muthuvijayan, stated that students interested in computational genomics should have a foundational understanding of biology and computation.

NPTEL wants to give over 30 lakh students access to advanced learning possibilities.
As part of its faculty development program, more than 66,000 faculty members from different educational institutions in India registered for NPTEL courses in 2023.
Additionally, NPTEL helped 321 NPTEL toppers get internships and placements at IITs and other universities last year.
Additionally, NPTEL works with ANSYS to offer a limited number of courses that allow learners to complete ANSYS innovation courses that align with NPTEL’s curriculum and earn industry-recognized badges.
ANSYS badges can be obtained by NPTEL Toppers, who can then display them on their professional networks.
Assistant professor Karan Bhalla, a “domain scholar” from Ludhiana who has completed NPTEL courses, stated, “The best part of these courses is that we learn from IIT professors.”
